Following up on my post last month on the death of mobile marketing, Tribble continues to bang the drum on “mobile marketing is dead.

Does the mobile market even exist? The answer is flatly no. Before the checks were cut to develop their mobile advertising model was outdated… just like the phones the executives were carrying…

Virtually all “mobile advertising” plans now central around twitter and building a site that is less flash intensive. Not rocket science… and not really mobile marketing… just marketing as normal with a twitter aspect.

I tend to agree with this, particularly the first part. The iPhone basically killed existing mobile marketing models. Your mobile phone is now (if you have an iPhone) a tiny computer that can render the real Web, including real Web ads.

The screen is smaller, so advertisers will have to render more readable, less detailed executions of their creative for small mobile screens, but other than that, mobile advertising is just online advertising now, and the future will hold more convergence, not less.
