Where Are Ad Dollars Going?

At the Multicultural Media Expo on Tuesday I gave a talk on the future of multicultural advertising. Surprisingly enough, I pointed out that general market media consumption, and therefore ad dollars, are moving online very quickly, and that multicultural markets are following that same trend. If marketers don't get ahead of that curve, they're going to get left behind.
In that presentation I showed a lot of numbers indicating my case, inc
luding declines in TV ad dollars, radio listenership, and newspaper readers contrasted with huge gains in online users and ad dollars. Henry Blodget at Silicon Alley Insider further makes my case with a post analyzing the 2007 numbers of publicly traded media companies.
In short, Blodget says that online media is blowing away traditional media and Google is leading the charge. Check out the post.
