AOL – Amor y Amistad for $60 a Month
Last week, AOL Latino and True.com announced the launch of a new online dating area on AOL Latino.
The site is “called Amor y Amistad (Love and Friendship), providing AOL Latino users the opportunity to make personal connections in a safer online dating environment with TRUE’s more than 17 million members…For $59.95 a month, AOL Latino users will have access to all that TRUE has to offer, plus original love advice articles and blogs, relationship tips, quizzes and dating guidelines on AOL Latino.”
$59.95 a month? That’s a lot of money to spend to subscribe to an online service. The only thing I pay for online is the Wall Street Journal, and I get a year of it for about $60. True and AOL both have advertising on their sites as well, so they’re intending to make a ton of money on this deal.
When I first saw this headline, I though that a combination of AOL and an existing dating site could be poised to dominate the Latino dating market. However, it seems that there is a real opportunity for other Latino dating sites like QuieroLatino, who target dating among young Latinos. There is a lot of pricing room between $60 per month and free.
